When going to the guru empty yourself.
Once Buddha gathered 100 people for a sermon. People waited eagerly for Buddha to talk but he sat absolutely silent.
All of a sudden a disciple Mahakashaya started laughing. Buddha called him in front and presented him with a lotus. He told the people “What can be conveyed through words I have told you people, what cannot be told through words I have told Mahakashya.” Saying this he walked away.
It was a heart to heart transfer.
The Bhagavad Gita was conveyed by Krishna to Arjuna in the same way. Only the receptive can understand it.
When going to the Guru one must empty them selves.
The Guru is there to fill in colors to your soul’s canvas. It however must be remembered that a canvas will always look beautiful if old paints are not overlapped by new ones.
Let your canvas be blank, empty as they may, for the Guru to work wonders on it.
The Guru has the power to put everything in place. He is the one window in a room through which the light filters in. Let that light shine in. Leave the window wide open.
